About Us

What is The Big Bake Sale for Social Justice?

The Big Bake Sale for Social Justice is a community-driven fundraiser created to benefit groups and organizations that fight for civil liberty, equality, and social justice for all people.

This project was started by members of the Austin Texas community who have helped to organize similar events to support humanitarian aid and disaster relief through Austin Bakes.

Our first bake sale, The Big Bake Sale for Border Families, took place in August of 2018, during which we raised $12,482.77 for RAICES.

Our second bake sale took place mid-pandemic in June 2020. The Big (Curbside) Bake Sale for Racial Justice raised over $9,000 for the Austin Justice Coalition and Communities of Color United: Coalition for Racial Justice.

Our next sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 30, 2021. To get involved, sign up here.

Who Runs The Big Bake Sale for Social Justice?

We are a coalition of local bakers, eaters, and business owners located in and around Austin, Texas. Right now, we operate as an informal volunteer-run group. All admin fees and costs are generously donated by our members, allowing every penny collected during our bake sales to go directly to the cause.
