The Big Bake Sale for Social Justice is focused on keeping all volunteers, site staff and patrons safe during COVID-19. With that in mind, we will have strict guidelines to all volunteer activities.
The following are general guidelines to help keep you safe so you can help others, and so we all get through this crisis together.
General COVID-19 Guidelines for Site Volunteers
- ALL on-site volunteers will be required to provide proof of full vaccination status to their site lead.
- Do NOT volunteer if within 14 days prior to the event you will:
- Travel to any foreign country or large metropolitan city.
- Will be on a cruise or in an airport
- Are around anyone who has COVID-19
- Attend an event where there are more than 250 people
- Do NOT volunteer if in the last 72 hours of the event you have:
- Experienced or are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms including but not limited to:
- Fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea
- Experienced or are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms including but not limited to:
- BEFORE arriving at a bake sale site for your volunteer shift, confirm with your site lead if any additional safety precautions should be taken before, during or after your shift.
- PLAN for extra time for volunteer screening before your scheduled shift (you will be asked to sign a COVID-19 attestation)
- EXPECT that details may change due to the ever changing status of COVID-19 in our community. Please be gracious, patient and understanding. Your organizers and site leads are volunteers as well, and we’re all trying to do our best to support our community and each other.
- DO practice universal infection control precautions. Thoroughly clean and wash your hands before and after volunteering.
- DO use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE/masks) while on-site.
- DO practice social distancing to the best of your ability with other volunteers and bake site patrons.

- Fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea
- Experienced or are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms including but not limited to:
- DO practice universal infection control precautions. Clean and wash your hands before, during, and after baking.
- DO use gloves and proper PPE/masks wehn packaging your bake sale items.
